Escea’s wireless remote control system, Smart Heat, is intuitive, convenient, and easy to use. You can control your fire via Escea’s Smart Heat Online website or our Smart Heat apps for iOS and Android, or use Smart Heat to connect your fireplace to your home automation system.
Connecting your fireplace to the internet
Most of Escea fireplaces can be connected to your internet modem or router via a network cable (Ethernet) fitted by your installer.
Even though you might not use the physical remote that comes with the fireplace, it has to have working batteries and must be in the room with the fireplace (for example on the wall, on the bookshelf, etc). This is because the remote is the thermostatic control for the fireplace and is used to measure the room temperature.
Smart Heat lets you control your Escea fireplace in three ways:
1) Smart Heat Online
Visit the Escea SMART HEAT ONLINE WEBSITE (http://escea.dnserver.net.nz), create an account, and register your fireplace. This account is needed to operate your fireplaces remotely via the website and via the Smart Heat app when outside of your home wi-fi network.
2) Smart Heat App
We always have our phones handy, so there's no easier way to operate your fireplace than via smartphone app.
3) Home Automation System
The Escea Smart Heat controller is compatible with most home management systems. Escea fireplaces have a basic interface for home automation systems. A pair of wire connections are provided for the installer to fit a relay, controlled by the automation system, that connects or disconnects the two wires. When the wire connection is closed the fireplace starts, and when the two wires are subsequently disconnected the fireplace shuts down.
NOTE: The physical remote control is still the thermostatic control for the fireplace, and it will operate on the temperature that is set on the remote.
