What type of flue does an Escea Gas Fireplace have?

All Escea gas fireplaces have a Powered Direct Vent Flue System.

‍

This system draws fresh air from outside for combustion and expels all exhaust back outdoors. The fireplace is fully glass-fronted and room-sealed, keeping combustion air completely separate from room air. This improves safety, performance, and efficiency, with no way for fumes to enter the home.

Not all flue systems are the same, though. Escea uses an innovative flexible flue system that can run vertically, horizontally, or even under the floor. This flexibility means you can install an Escea gas fireplace in more places around the home – including under windows, within cabinetry, between floors, or in locations where a traditional vertical chimney isn’t possible.

Are gas fireplaces safe?

Modern Direct Vent room-sealed gas fireplaces, like Escea’s, are one of the safest types of gas fireplaces you can install in your home.

These fireplaces are completely sealed to the room – the air used for combustion comes from outside, and all fumes are expelled back outside too. This means no exhaust gases enter your home, making them safer for your health, and more efficient than open-front gas fireplaces.

Like any heating appliance, the glass can get hot to touch while the fire is operating. For added peace of mind, Escea offers optional mesh screens on many gas models to help protect little hands and paws. Every Escea gas fireplace is built with an airtight steel firebox, tested multiple times during manufacturing, run on high before shipping, and includes a thermostat to prevent overheating.

Do gas fireplaces actually heat?

Yes. Modern gas fireplaces — especially Escea’s Powered Direct Vent models — deliver consistent, powerful warmth. Depending on the model, heat output ranges from approximately 5.2 kW up to around 9.7 kW for the larger gas models.

What materials can I surround an indoor gas fireplace with?

Because all Escea indoor gas fireplaces are Zero Clearance rated, the wall linings around the fireplace stay cool enough to allow a wide range of surround materials. You can still use traditional finishes like brick, stone, or tiles — but what’s really unique is that you can also use combustible materials, such as timber and plasterboard, and even integrate the fireplace into cabinetry or joinery, depending on the look you want to achieve.

Zero Clearance gives you far greater design freedom and allows the fireplace to sit seamlessly within your chosen wall finish for a clean, modern aesthetic.

Are gas fireplaces efficient?

Gas fireplace efficiency depends on the type, but room-sealed, Direct Vent gas fireplaces like Escea’s are the most efficient.

Direct Vent fireplaces draw fresh air for combustion from outside the home and expel all exhaust air back outdoors through a dual-flue system. The warm indoor air remains completely separate from the combustion process, which means no wasted heat and a warmer, healthier home.
