FAQs
What types of outdoor fireplaces does Escea have?
Escea’s outdoor range includes both gas and wood fireplaces. Gas offers convenience and control, while wood delivers a more traditional fire experience — with the option to cook as well as heat.
Can an outdoor fireplace be attached to the house?
Yes. Outdoor gas fireplaces can be installed against or integrated into an external wall, making them well suited to built-in outdoor living spaces. Outdoor wood fireplaces can also be installed in or against a structure, however they must follow specific installation guidelines to ensure safe operation, and may require consent.
In all cases, it’s important to follow manufacturer instructions and check local building requirements before installation.
Do I need consent to install an outdoor fireplace?
In many cases, outdoor fireplaces don't require consent, particularly for freestanding or open outdoor installations. However, requirements can vary depending on your location, the type of fireplace, and how it’s installed (for example, in-built designs or installations close to the home, boundaries, structures may require consent).
It’s always recommended to check with your local council or authority before installation. Your local Escea retailer will also be able to offer guidance.
Does the Escea EF5000 Outdoor Gas Fireplace need a flue?
No, the Escea EF5000 Outdoor Gas Fireplace doesn’t require a flue. Because it is an open-fronted outdoor fireplace, combustion air is drawn in from the front and exhaust air is released the same way. This removes the need for a traditional flue system. It’s important, however, to ensure the EF5000 is installed in an open, well-ventilated outdoor area so combustion air can circulate freely and exhaust gases can disperse safely.
Your installer or local Escea retailer can advise on the best placement and ventilation requirements, or see the installation manual for full details.
