Design Duo’s Duplex Build with Escea Fireplaces

Design Duo’s Duplex Build with Escea Fireplaces

Previous ‘The Block Australia’ winners and ‘Twin Off’ Series sisters Alisa and Lysandra Fraser balance family life with being business owners and interior designers.

No strangers to a challenge, their already busy lifestyles didn’t stop them from embarking on a journey to build their dream homes, side by side in Adelaide’s coastal suburb of Somerton Park.

While the twins mirrored the exterior design with their duplex-style homes, inside they showcased their individuality, including their fireplace choice and designs.

We were excited to get a glimpse behind these impressive doors. Alisa’s home is cosy and inviting with a minimalist look, complemented by the frameless fireplace. Lysandra’s home greets you with a modern aesthetic, elevated with a touch of luxury and featuring a classic style fireplace.

Alisa’s Minimalist Family Space

For Alisa, the vision was to design a space where family and friends could socialise, relax and enjoy each other’s company.

The Escea DS1150 Gas Fireplace with its frameless minimalist design creates a focal point to gather, occupying its own place within the open-plan living space for a cosy and inviting feel.

“At the forefront of my choice was the fire’s design and functionality – its minimalist design lets the fireplace speak for itself, creating a focal point of the living space,” says Alisa.

Choosing an Escea, and in particular the frameless DS1150 model creates cohesion within the family home that Alisa desired.

The Escea DS1150 Gas Fireplace offers a minimalist focal point feature.

The fire’s frameless design blends effortlessly within the home, set within a rendered wall, complementing the home’s interior to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere.

Alisa shares, “The fireplace is a beautiful feature, and we love having movie nights as a family with the fire on, for both warmth and atmosphere.”

Lysandra’s Contemporary Family Haven

While a cosy inviting vibe was Alisa’s dream, Lysandra desired a contemporary feel with a moody luxe vibe for their family home.

The variety of options with the Escea DF960 Gas Fireplace including fascia colours, frame widths and fuelbed choices, allowed for freedom of creativity for Lysandra to customise the fireplace to suit the overall space.

“From a design point of view, Escea offers a lot of flexibility, allowing for the fireplace and surrounds to be seamless,” says Lysandra.

The Escea DF960 Gas Fireplace offers a classic addition to this modern home.

As the home build took shape, the focal point of the living space became evident with the DF960.

The fireplace was nestled within the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area creating the desired feel for the overall space.

Lysandra shares “The feel for my home is overall contemporary, with a moody luxe-vibe – which is the perfect setting for a fireplace, creating the tone for the space.”

The nostalgia of a real wood burning fireplace completes both homes with a unanimous choice of the traditional logs fuelbed for both the DS1150 and DF960 gas fireplaces.

Thanks to Escea’s innovative technology, the sisters enjoyed complete design freedom when integrating their choice of fireplace into their homes. Flexible Flues ensured they weren’t limited in the placement of their fireplace, while a Zero Clearance rating allowed for greater surround choice.

It wasn’t the fireplaces dictating the design, but rather the innovation of the fireplaces allowing them to bring their design visions to life - view a gallery of their homes below:
