Video Series: Inside Bunker House by Futureflip

Bunker House is the personal holiday home of experienced builder and Futureflip owner, Neil Hipwell.  Located in New South Wales popular beach town Gerringong, the home showcases Neil's love for sustainable design and working with hard-wearing natural materials.

Take a tour of Bunker House…

Bunker House was a labour of love for Futureflip owner Neil Hipwell – a family home that he along with his wife Krystall, and their three children would enjoy for years to come.

The design brief for Bunker House was to create a sustainable, luxury home that was sensitive to the environment and informed by its coastal locale.

It was fitting then that the material palette became an ode to Neil's love of concrete, particularly given the seaside location where the home would be battered by the harsh climate of salt, sea, and wild winds.

The facade of Bunker House is enticing, with rugged good looks made up of concrete, stone, and cedar – inside, the home is surprisingly open and bright despite the private Bunker design.

Large floor-to-ceiling windows frame the picturesque views of Gerringong beach, whilst welcoming in an abundance of natural light that floods the space.

Warming up all the concrete is an Escea DS1650 gas fireplace, installed off-centre in the living room, surrounded in a warm-toned timber, and with an eye-catching exposed flue.
